Speech on Money – 4

"Respected Principal, Respected Teachers and My Dear Friends!

Today, we all are gathered here in this assembly hall for a speech competition organized by our school and the topic is the importance of money and its drawbacks. As a head girl of this school, it is my pleasure to begin this competition by saying a few words on money. Money is one of the most wonderful creations of human being. Money in today’s time is one of the most important and a powerful factor that we can have. People work in day and night just to earn money. They earn money to fulfill their desires and for their satisfactions. With money, a person can earn almost everything.

If we see into the system of ancient period when money was not in existence, there was the barter system. In barter system, people exchange their goods with each other in case of double coincidence of needs. The exchange of commodities was only possible if there is a person who wants your commodity in exchange of his commodity. It was not always possible to have a double coincidence of needs and thus this system was no longer existed. Through the passage of time it was no longer possible to be self dependent for commodities as well as for exchanging goods thus it leads to the creation of money.

Invention of money has made things way much easier then it was before. Now we do not need any kind of coincidence to get our needs fulfilled. You just need money in your pocket to get your demands, needs or desires fulfilled. Money is needed everywhere but still there are many things that do not require money or that cannot be purchased or owned by the use of money like love. Our parents do not love us for money because it is unconditional and blind. Money can be the most important thing all around the world but still there are few places where it is not needed and is meaningless.

We all are aware of today’s lifestyle of people all around us. They all are busy in earning money. Most of them are becoming careless towards their health and family. Money has many positive effects on the entire world but there are many negative effects also. Corruption is one of the leading problems which many countries are facing today. It is due to the increasing addiction of earning more and more money. Yes, it is a kind of addiction that many people are having. They can do anything for earning money. Gambling is also a big issue that is created due to the addiction of earning money.

To overcome these problems, we need to understand that money is just a source for fulfilling our needs and comforts but is not more important than ourselves or our family members.
